These terms apply to your use of TestMyFirewall.com, including the firewall test and open port checker on this site. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
When you run a test, our server opens a normal TCP connection back to your own public IP address, which we read from your connection to this site. You cannot enter someone else's address, and the test will not scan any address other than the one you are connecting from.
The result tells you whether that port appeared open, closed, or filtered from the public internet at that moment. It is a point-in-time observation, not a security audit.
You may use this site only to test a connection you own or are authorized to test. Do not use it on a network you do not have permission to assess, and do not use it to plan or support unauthorized access to any system.
If you are on a shared, corporate, school, or mobile carrier network, the address we see may belong to your provider rather than to your device, and results may reflect their equipment instead of yours. Get permission before testing a network you do not control.
You must be at least 18 years old to agree to these terms on your own behalf. If you are at least 13 and under 18, you may use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms for you. The site is not directed to children under 13 and they should not use it.
The test is for people running a test on their own connection through the website. You may not use scripts, bots, headless browsers, scrapers, or any other automated means to call the test or any part of this site, and you may not attempt to work around rate limits, the same-origin restriction on the test endpoint, or any other technical control. Automated traffic consumes a shared daily allowance that the site depends on, so exceeding it takes the site down for everyone else.
If you are responsible for a network and you do not want it tested, we will exclude it on request. Our page for network operators explains what the test looks like in a log, why we cannot publish a single source address to filter, and how to send us the ranges. Machine-readable contact details are published at /.well-known/security.txt per RFC 9116.
Once a range is excluded, the test refuses every address inside it, including for people on that network who ask for it.
The site and the test are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that results will be accurate, complete, or uninterrupted. Firewall and port results can be affected by carrier-grade NAT, VPNs, proxies, transient network conditions, intermediate filtering, and your own equipment. A port reported as closed or filtered is not a guarantee that a system is secure, and a port reported as open is not by itself proof of a vulnerability.
Nothing on this site is professional security, legal, or compliance advice. The results and any explanatory material are general information only. Do not rely on them as your sole basis for a security decision. For a real assessment of your network, consult a qualified security professional.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TestMyFirewall.com and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, business, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the site, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the site will not exceed one hundred United States dollars (US $100.00).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability or exclusions of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. In that case, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
To run a test we necessarily process the public IP address you are connecting from, because that address is what the test measures. We do not require an account and we do not ask you for personal information to run a test. We do not sell your information.
We keep a short request log, and it includes your address and the port you tested. Version 2.0 of these terms said the opposite — that nothing about a test was written down. That was true when it was written and stopped being true on August 16, 2026, when we turned logging on deliberately. We would rather correct it here in plain language than leave a promise standing that we no longer keep.
One line is written per test. It records the public address the request came from, the port, the result, how long the attempt took, the network operator number for that address, the Cloudflare data centre that handled it, and a request identifier. It does not contain your name, an account, a cookie, a device identifier, or anything you typed. A refused request is logged the same way as a completed test.
It exists for one reason. This test makes a real connection to a real network, and the people most likely to notice are security teams who see it arrive and quite reasonably want to know what it was. Without a record we could not answer them, and "we have no way to check" is a poor answer to give someone investigating their own network. We keep these lines for a short time — a matter of days, not months. They are not used for advertising, profiling, or building any picture of who you are, and they are not sold or shared, except where we are legally required to produce them.
What Cloudflare keeps is a separate question, and we are not going to overstate our side of it. This site is served through Cloudflare, which handles every request on our behalf and keeps its own operational and security logs under its own retention policy. Those logs are Cloudflare's rather than ours, are governed by its terms, and ordinarily include request metadata such as your IP address. We cannot promise they do not exist, and saying otherwise would be untrue.
Where we do hold something ourselves, we hold it briefly. Messages sent through the contact form or by email are kept only as long as needed to deal with what they are about, and in any case no longer than 24 months, after which they are deleted. A request from a network operator to exclude a range is kept for as long as that exclusion is in place, because the exclusion is the record.
The contact form is handled by Web3Forms, which receives whatever you type into it. Other third-party services used on this site, such as advertising or analytics where present, are governed by their own privacy policies. If you email us, we will have whatever you choose to put in that email.
Test results link to port reference pages on AuditMyPC.com, and the site may link to other third-party resources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site.
We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue the site or any part of it at any time, including applying rate limits to keep the service available to everyone. We may also update these terms; if we do, we will change the effective date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes are resolved and limits your right to bring a lawsuit or participate in a class action.
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of the site will be resolved by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, except as stated below. Arbitration will be administered by a recognized arbitration provider under its consumer arbitration rules, and will take place in or near Muskegon County, Michigan, or by remote or documents-only proceeding where the provider's rules allow it.
Talk to us first. Before starting an arbitration, you agree to send a written description of the dispute and what you are asking for to help@testmyfirewall.com, and to give us 60 days to sort it out informally. We agree to do the same before starting one against you. Most things can be settled this way, and any deadline for bringing a claim pauses while this step is under way.
You can opt out of arbitration. If you do not want to be bound by the arbitration agreement and class action waiver in this section, email help@testmyfirewall.com with the subject line "Arbitration opt-out" within 30 days of first using the site, including enough information for us to know who you are. Opting out costs you nothing and changes nothing else: the rest of these terms still apply, and we will not treat you differently for it. If you opt out, disputes go to the courts named below.
Class action waiver. Disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis. You and we each waive the right to bring or participate in any class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding.
Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies, and either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in court for actual or threatened infringement or misuse of intellectual property.
If arbitration does not apply. If the arbitration agreement above is found unenforceable or does not apply to a particular dispute, that dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in or serving Muskegon County, Michigan, and you and we consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
Severability. If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, that part is limited or removed only to the smallest extent necessary and the rest stays in force. Within the arbitration section specifically, if the class action waiver is held unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim proceeds in court while the rest of the arbitration agreement continues to apply to everything else.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these terms, or any rights under them, without our written consent. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a sale, merger, or transfer of the site or the business that operates it, and these terms will continue to apply.
No waiver. If we do not enforce something straight away, that is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
Entire agreement. These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the site, and replace any earlier version, including version 2.0 of August 14, 2026 and version 1.0 of August 12, 2026.
